To the guy/gal bombing my AIM SN

Dear asshat:

I don't know who you are or why you've chosen my AIM screen name to use your little hacks and exploits on but I gotta tell you, you're pretty freakin' lame. Just imagine... you're talking to some people, having a few conversations (possibly even one with your girlfriend!) and then your AIM shuts down because someone sends an exploit to mess up one of the DLL files that AIM needs to function. Oh yeah, you're really freakin' awesome!

The truth is, you're just some pathetic soul who's probably living in your mom's basement and you do this to get a thrill. I would say that it's better than sex for you but you probably wouldn't know since you're probably a virgin... at the age of 28.

But never fear, I'm fixing you. While I don't know who you are or why you've chosen me to be the subject of your jollies, there are things I can do to prevent this from happening again and rest assured that they are already done. Also keep in mind that I know a thing or two about the Internet myself and I'm sure I could trace your IP address if I really wanted to. Remember, there's no such thing as privacy online no matter what the boys in DC might tell you.

Of course, you may very well work for my competition, in which case you wouldn't be that tough to find.

Bottom line, you'll no longer be able to get your jollies off me. Have fun with the basement.

Asshat.

Relaxing

After a very stressful and busy week it feels really good to be sitting on my couch and listening to Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" as I type these words. Don't get me wrong, I've loved every minute of this week because it presented new challanges and had some wonderful moments but it's been very tiring mainly because of my lack of sleep. Since I had to do mornings for most of this week (I usually do afternoons), my sleep cycle was all screwed up. So I've been draggin' the last few days. But, thankfully, I have tomorrow off so I plan to catch up on my sleep! :-D

Last night we did our pre-qualifying round of our slam dunk contest. It was a really good time! We saw some great slam dunkers and the crowd had a great time as well. We had to change the format and take the top three dunkers but the ones we got really did well. They'll be in the finals on March 5th during IPFW's game against Utah Valley State. If you'r ein the area, come check it out! If you're not, well, I'll tell you about it here next weekend.

Ah... "Fly Me To the Moon" by the Charman of the Board (that would be Sinatra) just came on! :-D

That song reminds me so much of Emily but that would be because that's exactly how I feel about her. She's been such a blessing to me in so many ways. Tonight we hung out for a bit and we were finishing each others sentences LOL. That's not the first time something like that has happened but it's just always cool when that stuff happens. To know that we're connected on such a level is an awesome feeling. BTW, we just celebrated four months. It feels like I've known her all my life, though. :-)

Speaking of Emily, I've finally named the fish she bought for me. I decided on Dory, after the forgetful fish from "Finding Nemo" who was so funny. Not that my fish is stupid, I just thought it was a cool name. I need to get a table and put the tank in my living room (she's currently in my kitchen). I don't really have a place for her in the living room right now and she always hides behind a rock whenever I walk in there. She just needs to get used to me is all and having her out in the living room will help that more.

I've rambled on enough. Time to take my tired ass to bed.

Random Thoughts and Ramblings at IHOP

Before you ask, no, I'm not at IHOP. I was earlier but I'm not now.

I'll start from the beginning.

Emily came over tonight and we decided that we wanted something to eat so we went IHOP (God bless it--that and the Waffle House but they don't have those here). It just happened that I was sitting at a table right next to a former jock and current intern from Hot 107.9, my competition (the names are withheld to protect the innocent--I'll tell you why in a minute). I overheard a bunch of stuff that I wasn't supposed to hear, bunch of juicy details that could be of benefit to me and my staff. I even overheard some intimate details about some of the Hot staff (and I do mean personal--but I don't think I'll share that just now).

I haven't decided what, if anything, I'm going to do with the information I overheard. Some of the information, if used, could be considered personal attacks but I don't want to go that route. However, some of the other stuff could be very useful in our strategy planning. So we'll see what happens. BTW, I also heard some very juicy details about their new PD which, again, could actually be beneficial in our strategy.

So why am I withholding their names? Simple: They were nice to me so why would I want to screw them. Even the intern/part timer/whatever he might be was cival towards me. See, this whole "battle" that we're in, at least in my eyes, is something we do on the air. There's no reason to be outright mean to each other personally. I wish I could say that a certain asshole who works there felt that way but I won't get started on that jackass. BTW, I know you read this and I'll thank you to leave the jocks on my station alone (I saw the email). You say you don't care about radio war. Well, you sure don't mind contributing to it with personal attacks (remember, I'm one of Hot's "fat guys"). You're a jerk and I think you and I both know that your days at Hot are numbered. Don't bother coming to us for a job. You won't even get an interview.

Like you said, don't hate the player, hate the game.

Bottom line: Be careful who you piss off. Now I know that he and others would come back with "you need to take your own advice." Well, I would never work for a station like that. I wouldn't work for a moronic owner who will actually call the competing owner to complain about something on the said competiting station because he didn't like it. What a tool! I hope he doesn't bother calling to complain during my watch because, last time I checked, "Uncle Russ" didn't sign my checks. Screw him.

BTW, I love noticing that the other station is trying to be more "street", yet you wouldn't know it by their TV commercials. The old lady at the end really sets it off! I didn't know an 80 year old lady saying "it's the shizzle bizzle" was considered street.

Please.

That Crazy Media!

Gotta love our media. Here are several FACTS that they are not telling us. See, they're so liberal that they'll leave out the truth so they can air and print stories that fit their agenda. Dig it:

--47 countries have re-established their Iraqi embassies.

--The new Iraqi government employees 1.2 MILLION people.

--3,100 schools have been renovated, 364 are currently being rehabbed, 263 are being built and 38 new schools have already been completed.

--The Iraqi Navy is operational.

--Iraq's police service now had more than 55,000 fully trained and equipped officers.

--There are more than 1,100 building projects going on, including all of those schools, plus 67 health clinics, 15 hospitals, 83 railroad stations, 22 oil facilities, 93 water facilities and 69 electric facilities.--4.3 million Iraqi children were enrolled in elementary school school as of October.

--There are 1,192,000 cell phone subscribers in Iraq and phone use has gone up 158% since the invasion.--The new independent media has 75 radio stations, 180 newspapers and 10 TV stations.

--The Baghdad Stock Exchange opened in June of 2004.

--Two of the Presidential candidates had a televised debate.

--Iraq how has a counter-terrorism unit.

All of this has happened, yet the media would have us think that it's nothing but death and destruction over there.

No media bias? Yeah, right.

Random Thoughts and Ramblings From My New Couch

This is my first blog entry from my new couch! Our former night guy, Diesel, came back to Fort Wayne to get the rest of his stuff (he moved to Texas) and one of the things he did was help me move his couch into my house. He sold it to me for $50. This thing is pimp! Part of it reclines and it's really comfortable. However, I think I'm going ot have the chaz lounge part cleaned. God knows what he's done on it.

I'm trying to wind down a bit. Starting tomorrow I'm doing the morning show for the rest of the week. It's almost 10:30 and I'm nowhere near ready to go to bed. It's what I get for doing nights for so long and not being able to get to bed before 2:00 AM (I still can't go to bed early most of the time). Eh, I'll live. I remember when I was at my old station. I had to do the night show live (7-12!), drive 45 minutes home, fell asleep at 1:30, woke up at 4:00, went to the station to hit the air at 6:00 and then I did a ton of production after that. Needless to say, it was a long day. Tomorrow I have to hit the air at 6:00, attending a meeting at 10:00, go to IPFW for a bit, go to Centennial Wireless to get my phone looked at (it's doing some strange things), go back to the station to finish my work and then Em and I are going to the Komets game tomorrow night. Dizzy yet? Hahaha It's all good, I've done days like this before and I'm sure I'll do it again. Actually, I know I will... Friday's going to be a royal bitch.

I guess I'm going to watch a little TV and try to wind down somemore. Wish me well, I'm gonna need it.

Goodnight!

Random Thoughts and Ramblings for 2/20

This post may be more all over the place than most of the ones I've done before. Eh, I just haven't written in a while so I have loads on my mind.

Radio is a cruel business. One minute you have a great gig at a great station and the next you find yourself in the line for welfare cheese. No, I haven't been fired *knock on wood* but a couple of people that I know have been. Opie, a guy in Oregon who's really had bad luck with gigs in the last year, found out that he had lost his gig in Medford via a posting on All Access (a website for radio and record people). That's got to be the worst way to find out that you're fired and I would have been pissed. He's taking it well, all things considered. I just hope this doesn't mess things up with his son. His ex-wife is kindda anal about things concerning Riley and I really hope she doesn't throw a fit and try to take him away from Opie. Then there's Clayton. I've talked about Clayton a few times in this blog as you may recall. He and I have had our differences (mainly because of petty things since we worked for different stations) but I would never wish anyone to be unemployeed. He got fired from his gig because he wasn't "street" enough for Hot. I hope he lands something soon... he's too talented to be on the beach for a long time.

C and Opie: If there's anything I can do to help either of you, let me know. Seriously.

Speaking of employment, we thought we had someone lined up for Program Director of my station but that didn't happen. Apparently the station he's at now matched the offer my people made and he decided to stay. So now I'm back in the running for the gig. I'm not sure when they're going to make the decision... but I'm going to keep things running and do my best to convince them once and for all that I deserve the gig. We'll see what happens.

Emily and I are still doing great! We went to Indianapolis yesterday where she was an accompanyist (did I spell that correctly?) for a kid who was performing in a solo competition. He got a Gold so she felt really good about that. We also went to a winter percussion competition that Elmhurst (she went to high school there) was playing. They placed 12th out of 17 schools in their class but the scoring was really tight. I think they were 8 points away from first. My favorite school from marching competition, Avon, was there and they put on a great show. All in all, it was a great day because I got to see some great precussion groups and I got to spend all day with Emily.

Things at home are good for the most part. Mom's getting physical therapy again and seems to be doing well with it. I haven't talked to my dad in a while but he's doing well as far as I know. My younger sister came out last weekend. Yep, she's a lesbian. Honestly I'm not that surprised. We've pretty much known for at least a couple of years that she was. No, I don't hate her for it or anything like that. While I don't particularly care for that lifestyle, I recognize that people can't help what and how they are. If she's a lesbian, I can't change that and hating her for being a lesbian would be stupid.

I think that's all of the updates. If I missed anything, I'll try and post about it later. Off to do music research I go!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today was a great Valentine's Day! Honestly, one of the best I've ever had.

Today started out very interestingly. We did our Valentine's Day nooner promotion today and that was an interesting time. The limo was an hour late to pick Van and I up at the station. Limo finally shows, we go about the promotion. See, we gave away a nooner (if you really have to ask what a nooner is, stop reading this and graduate high school... then you can come back and read). So Van and I had about an hour to just chill in the limo while the lucky couple was in the motel room doing the deed. I spent most of that time on the phone to my former Operations Manager from Meridian. The guy has finally landed a gig (well, mostly... money negotiation is always a bitch) and he was telling me about it. Ironically, it's back in Mississippi working for the company that owns our competition in Meridian. Isn't it strange how things work out sometimes? This is a weird business.

Fast forward to tonight when I left the station to pick up Emily for our night out on the town. I left the station and went to Hallmark to get a card for Em. I get to her house and we decide to exchange our gifts before we got to Biaggi's. She made my close my eyes and led me through her living room and made me sit down. When I opened my eyes, I saw my gift from her: A betta (pronounced beta) fish! Holy sox, I'm responsible for another living thing now! She's beautiful, probably going to turn blue. I haven't named her yet so I'm looking for suggestions. Feel free to leave a comment if you have an idea for a name. BTW, I got Emily a silver heart necklace. I also got her another gift but it hasn't come in yet. So I get to call customer service at the website I ordered her gifts from and chew them out. Guarenteed on Valentine's Day my ass. Anyway... Emily was beautiful tonight! Not that she doesn't always look beautiful but tonight she really looked hot. Man... I was blown away.

So we left and went to Biaggi's for dinner. Oh man, it was awesome! I can't remember what it's called but I had some angel hair pasta with a tomato sauce and seafood. It was great. After that we just chilled and talked some. I told her how this was the most special Valentine's Day I had ever spent with a girl. I took her home, got my fish and came home. As I got onto my road to my apartment, she called and told me that I really made her feel special tonight and that she really felt like a princess. That's really good because that's exactly what I wanted to do for her. :-) It truly was a great day.

At work, things may be about to get different. A decision has been reached on the Program Director's slot and it will be announced soon. Nope, I can't say who right now. Sorry. But the news will come soon enough.

I think I'm going to go to bed now. It's been an awesome day and, unfortunately, it's time to end it. Goodnight all!

Sick

Being sick sucks.

Since moving in May, this is the first time I've been really sick and it bites a bit one. A cold's been going around the building and it finally got me. At first I thought it might have been the flu but I don't feel bad enough to have the flu (trust me, if I had the flu I'd be a lot worse off than I am) but I'm thinking this is a cold. So today I'm staying at home to rest and hopefully I'll be good as new in no time.

Tomorrow is Emily's birthday and I'm taking her out for dinner tomorrow night. And I don't even have to tell you what Monday is (yep, I'm getting hit with a double whammy!). But it's all good. I'm not really getting her anything for her birthday since Valentine's Day is Monday but I think what I got her will more than make up for it (no, mom, not a ring!). Thank God for Overstock.com! No, I'm not going to say what I got her (she does read this sometimes) but all I'll say was that I was torn between two items and I couldn't decide. So what did I do? Got both, of course. LOL

I'm not sure who knew this and didn't but I'm really wanting to make the next few days special because Emily and I went through a rough spot in our relationship a couple of weeks ago. I don't want to go into details... but we got things worked out and I'm very thankful for that. I think this may have been the proof that we both needed to help us realize that we can make it through the challanges that will surely befall us as our relationship develops.

Well, I'm going to end this now. I'm going to get a quick bite and the I'm going to take a nap. Tomorrow I'll be back at work so I need to get my strength up (honestly, though, I feel better today and I sound a lot worse than I feel). Until then... love, peace and chicken grease!

Ok, maybe this isn't the case (well, most of the time) but I thought it was funny considering the line of work I'm in:
