Pondering and other assorted junk

Today was one of those days where I pondered things. And, of all the places in Fort Wayne, I ended up doing some of it concerned the Waynedale post office.

No offense to anyone who works at (or knows somone who works at) a post office but postal employees are a wierd bunch. I seriously doubt you could get away with sitting back and watching them for an hour but pay attention to their mannerisms next time you're in line for a stamped envelope. They're just, well, strange! The way they look, the way they talk, the things they talk about... just strange. Don't get me wrong, they're some of the nicest people in the world (for the most part) but they just do some wierd things. And they also have the most inefficeint operation I've ever seen, at least at the front of the house. Oy. Of course, they're the cheapest means to send something. Thankfully the delivery aspect of the postal service works well.

I had to make an emergency run to take some P.A. equipment to a remote (that's a live broadcast! [don't ask, it's an inside joke between me and some radio friends]) and I passed by a "mobile home community." By the way, no offense to anyone who might live in a mobile home (and yes I can talk because I used to live in one and it was a crappy one to boot). Where I come from, we call those trailor parks. You know, a place where the mobile homes are that look like they've been around since the Roosevelt adminsitration and that have about six or seven dead cars in front of it. Anyway, they had this place "dressed" just like an apartment complex, complete with flowers and signs that talked about move in specials. You would think that since this place was "upscale" that it would be selective about the types of mobile homes they allowed in there. Well, it had these Roosevelt looking trailors in there, complete with the six or seven dead cars in front of most. No matter how nice you make it look, it's still a trailor park. "If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck."

By the way, you'll hear a new voice on My 103.9 on Saturday nights: ME! Starting this Saturday, I'll be hosting the Saturday night show on Fort Wayne's Hit Music Channel.

Thanks to Farkers, I've discovered a new artist by the name of Jem. No, not the doll from the 80's who had magic ear rings. This Jem is a very talent singer who reminds me very much of Dido. Her song "They" is very good. If you ever get the chance, check out her music. But do it legally!

I have a feeling that the next 24 hours are going to be very interesting. Hit this site tomorrow night to find out of those feelings came to pass.
