Changes

Today I was reminded of how things continue to change since I've moved to Indiana.

I found out that my friend Katie was getting married! I am extremely happy for her because I could tell that she was happy with her fella. I could hear her smiling while we were on the phone and I can honestly say that she hasn't sounded so happy in months. I've known Katie for about a year and I can't remember a time when I've heard her so excited about things. :-) She's one of my dearest friends and I've been hoping for the longest that she'd find someone to truly complete her. Anyway, the wedding will be sometime next year so I have plenty of time to plan out a trip to Orange Beach, Alabama for her wedding. I'm so excited for her! I'm glad she's finally with someone who makes her so happy.

Secondly, I talked to David (my old program director in Meridian) earlier tonight. Apparently some bullish has been happening at Clear Channel-Meridian and I know I would have blown up on someone by now. Apparently the lazy-ass sales people have been going to Ron (the general manager) complaining that Q101 isn't easy to sell anymore because they play rap music. Umm... last time I checked, top 40 stations played a little rap along with the rock and pop stuff. The ratings on the station are good (number one women 25-54, a key demographic that agencies like to target, plus number one with women 25-34 which is Q101's target). I was there for two years and I was Music Director for a year; I stand by every musical decision we made. The music is dead-on, the jocks are great... there's no reason why the sales people can't sell that station. I'll tell you what the problem is: Pure laziness. They want an easy sell that they don't have to put much work into. Every single one of them, from the sales manager down, need to be fired. All of them. If they can't sell a station that's number one then they just don't need to work there. There's one that claims they could sell a block of ice to an Eskimo. Doesn't seem that way to me.

Anywho, everything went well today. I had a really good show, the music log was quick, it was just a fun day. I had dinner with Joe The Prize Fairy tonight and that was really fun. If you don't know who Fairy is, he's this really cool guy who interns for us every summer. The guy's insane! LOL But in a good way, of course. Just the stuff he comes up with makes us all laugh and can turn around a bad day quickly. Joe's gonna go far in radio, I can see it now. He'll be a writer for Howard Stern someday.

I'm going to bed. Oh, I want to thank Candice (I hope I spelled that right) for giving me my first comments! :-)

If you're reading this, please feel free to hit me up with a comment; I'd love to know if you're enjoying this. I enjoy spilling my guts almost everyday. :-D
