10 things — some not so serious — to be thankful for this Thanksgiving

I posted this on my myspace blog but some of you don't visit that for whatever reason. :-p So I'm posting this here for your enjoyment. I "borrowed" this from The Meridian Star's website. Happy (belated) Thanksgiving!

10 things — some not so serious — to be thankful for this Thanksgiving

1.) Living in the "land of the free and home of the brave."

2.) When you renew your driver's license, you're only asked if your address is still the same — not your weight.

3.) The unconditional love of family and friends.

4.) Republicans are about to have a legitimate reason to blame Democrats for all the nation's problems.

5.) Blessings disguised as struggles.

6.) Britney Spears' dating life will soon be a national past-time again now that K-Fed is Fed-Ex.

7.) The warmth of home.

8.) No matter what the U.S. Postal Service puts it through, there's no way the fruitcake being mailed to us this holiday season can be damaged.

9.) Southern cooking (collard greens, corn bread, sweet potato pie, sweet tea, fried chicken).

10.) Pilgrims didn't spend their first winter in the new world dinning on sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie and skunk.

Well, I was Kind Of Right...

When last I posted, I told you that the next time I wrote I would be coming to you from my new city. At the time I thought that would be Lake Charles, Louisiana but instead I'm coming to you "live" from Philadelphia, Mississippi.

Obviously that means that things didn't work out too well.

To make a long story short, it just didn't work out... at all. At the end of the third day down there, I was turning in my keys and leaving town to head back to Mississippi. I won't get in to what all went down but this was a decision I feel I was right to make given all the things.

So now I'm back in Mississippi with my parents until I figure out where I'm supposed to go from here. For all I know it's here... for all I know, this is just a temporary stop. At this point, I honestly don't know. I do know that I'm planning to be here at least through the holidays so there ya go. I'm also doing some part time work at my old station in Meridian. I'm a weekend jock on WJDQ (Q95.1) in Meridian, which is really cool because that's where I got my start in radio (except that it was Q101 back then). I'm actually doing a shift tomorroe 3-7 and I'll also be on there Thanksgiving day 3-7 (albeit through the miracle of modern technology).

So that's basically my life at this point. Thanks for all the prayers and words of encouragement that some have already given me! May God bless you all.

Post Number 200!/OFF THE BEACH!

And it's been a long time coming, I know. By the way, does anyone read this piece of cyber real estate that I haven't updated since July? Life's been full of challanges, which is why I haven't updated anything in a long time. I'm really sorry. Seriously.

Well, let's see... when last I wrote, I was still an account manager for Rent-A-Center. I think I posted before I was transfered to Huntington (I honestly don't remember). I worked there a while and then... I just up and quit in August. I could no longer take the place, plus my back was starting to develop problems. Seriously, my shoulder hurt so much I thought I was starting to get a tear in my rotator cuff. So I was without work for about a month and then I started working at Centennial Wireless' call center. It wasn't a bad job, in fact it was interesting. I have enough fodder to write a very entertaining book.

And now comes the latest chapter in my life. By the time you read this, the "former" will have been removed from the title of this blog as I am now a radio jock again. I'm not going to say where just yet (wait for the official announcement to come out) but I will say that I'll be on at night (7P-12A) and I'll be the assistant program director. It's on a station much like Wild here in Fort Wayne is and it's down south. All I can really say at the moment, sorry. :-) But I will give you the little blurb that ran on All Access:

What's former SUMMIT Top 40/Rhythmic WNHT (WILD 96.3)/FT. WAYNE MD/middayer JONATHAN up to? ALL ACCESS hears JONATHAN is thisclose to announcing a new post at a Top 40/Rhythmic deep in the DA DIRTY SOUTH. You can try and pry it outta him at (260) 715-0068, or radiojonathan@gmail.com, but even the threat of no cheeseburgers for a year wouldn't loosen his tongue.

To everyone I've met or even not met here in Indiana: You've made the last two years of my life great. Even thought the last few months have been full of ups and downs, I wouldn't trade my experience here for anything in the world. You've all taught me things that I never would have learned down south and most of all... I've made some great friends that I know I'll have for the rest of my life. To everyone: Thank you. I love you all very much and it's going to be tough to leave you behind. However, keep this in mind: I'll be back. I have too many friends up here to not visit!

To those who might read this from The Pointe Church: You certainly have contributed to the last few months continuing to be great. Your help in my growth with Christ has been tremendous Everyone from the pastors to just regular attenders has been so great and encouraging to me. I very much appreciate all of your support, prayer and council from everyone I've known for the last few months. It's great that I was able to find a church where I could grow and be so involved. I pray that I find a church as great as The Pointe in my new city.

So this is my last post from the great frozen mid west. When next we talk, I will be blogging from my new city. So one last time... Peace out, be WiLD!
