Random Thoughts and Ramblings of a Radio Jock

Let's open the mail bag...

Oi. I shouldn't have to defend myself but here goes:

Wasn't it this very message board where you posted a rant about the pathetic handling of comments by the Ft. Wayne MediaWatch webmaster?

First of all, this is not a message board where any and everyone can post about whatever they want. This is my blog, a place where I can post my thoughts and, if I choose (yes, I do have that option), I can get feedback by allowing people to leave comments. Get it right.

So now, even if somebody has a valid response to one of your claims, it's ok for you to be hypocritical and do the same? If it's an opposing point from the one you post, it gets deleted. Sounds familiar.

That's not what I said. If you (or anyone) wants to disagree with me and post the said disagreement in a comment, fell free; I encourage it! However, there is a difference in disagreeing with someone and attacking someone. The comment that was left by whoever (maybe you?) was an attack on me and my station and I will not tolerate that. Period. Feel free to disagree but don't attack. And also know that I reserve the right to delete anything I feel is inappropriate from the comments at any time. I won't delete anything that's simply a reply of disagreement but I will delete any attacks on any person or any radio station. This is MY personal website, therefore I have the right to decide the content. If you can't live with that, don't read this blog.

You mentioned radio, and just like mentioning religion or politics like you do sometimes, that opens up an opportunity for someone to disagree and to seek a way of letting their opinions be known.

Again, it's fine to disagree with me. But, also again, I will not tolerate attacks. Period.

And also know that I don't and won't talk about radio here very often mainly, again, I have a personal life outside of the studio.

My posting about the Media Watch was a commentary against their opinion of radio people. I could have gone about it differently but what's done is done.

Respectfully yours,
Aaron
You happy I posted my name?

Cute.

Ok, this is the last time I'm visiting this topic. Again, this is my personal site and I reserve the right to delete anything I feel isn't appropriate. I also reserve the right to disable comments to the blog, thereby forcing you to email me with any comments you have (and making it harder for you to hide your identity). If this crap continues, I will do just that.

And to whoever posted that attack on me and my station (maybe the afore named "Aaron") you made it pretty obvious that you work for my competition. I mean, the average radio listener anywhere doesn't know nor care about ratings so, again, you made it pretty obvious. I'm not 100% sure of how you found this blog but I would hope you have bigger things to worry about than what I post on my personal blog.

I could say alot more to you but, unlike you, I would have the guts to do so to your face.

Again, I'm not posting about this crap again. No more attacks. Period.

  • Yes, of course I was the one who made the "attack" post. And no, I don't work for your direct competition. I am a radio admirer though, just like you'd find on the radio message boards. Most of the people posting on them are out of work or do something more "professional" than radio, but have an interest in it.
You look around different internet searches for radio and jocks, and you find that your page name includes Radio Jock and a lot of your messages say Indiana, Wild, Ft. Wayne and such. It's easy to find your blog, as if you write this and hope for nobody to read it.
You posted that you were excited to see that your numbers were nothing to complain about, that your afternoon show did well, and that your "competition" lost half of their market share. It sure does elude to the idea that you had a big part in taking away that half, which I was simply pointing out as a false fact.
Why is it that everybody who doesn't think Wild 96.3 is worth a damn "obviously" works for Hot 107.9? It sure does make it easy to keep you from finding out who I am if I'm not one of the 5 people working for Hot who might actually know of the message boards and other sites like this one. Most of Fort Wayne's Hip Hop listeners still prefer Hot 107.9 over Wild 96.3 according to the research, so why is it so damn hard to believe that a person with a more definite interest in the radio business would also find Hot to be superior? Like the guys in the message board are saying, it's a fact that Hot is still winning, that they have no reason to lose, especially not to you, and that you have nothing to celebrate now that the ratings are in and have shown your station format change, your own hiring, and Summit City Radio Group's image-setting for Wild has all done absolutely nothing for your numbers.
Go ahead and disable this feature, then you can live in some wonderland where it doesn't matter if you're doing right or wrong. You can simply ignore the other side and pretend you are on target all the time.

  • Ok while I don't live in Ft. Wayne, I did used to work in radio and well the above commenter needs a freakin' life. WHO CARES? It's a personal journal that happens to mention what the author does for a living and mentions something that he's proud of accomplishing. People who are this anal about radio message boards are just pissed they can't hack it in the industry or who care WAY too much what other people have to say about them. Grow up are we all like 12 here? If your going to attack someone do it on the message boards, that's what they're there for not their personal journals. Remember kiddies attacking and disagreeing are two TOTALLY different things as Jonathan has mentioned numerous times.

    Much Love
    Kristi
(yes as in the one from Detroit)
