Random Thoughts and Ramblings of a Radio Jock

Karma

It's been a while since I posted in here. Sorry, I've just been really busy.

Personally, I'm doing really well. I could still use a vacation (which I will get one really soon) but I'm getting through. I have been really "tired" lately but, again, I'm dealing. I just keep remembering that my vacation will soon be here.

Emily and I are still doing very well. As I've said before, she continues to astound me everday and I just love how things are going for us. I never thought I could care for someone so much but I do. Last night we went to see the Christmas wreath display at the Botanical Conservatory. The wreaths were nice but by far the best thing were the displays in the other rooms of the conservatory. Emily didn't think I would like all the plants and stuff but I really do. They had some beautiful plants and I would love to go back. The main thing I was blown away by was how cheap the price of admission was! $4.00 for all that stuff. The trees and plants in there (plus the outside gardens) would make the price at least $10.00 in most cities. I can't wait to check it out again. But this started out about Emily LOL. I do love her and I'm very glad she's in my life. Unfortunately I'm not going to see her much for the next two weeks. This week is Dead Week at IPFW where basically they prepare for finals. Then she'll have finals the following week. It's going to suck not seeing her but she needs to study and put forth as much energy as she can into studying for her finals and then taking them. Besides, I need to get used to it. I'll be going home for a few days soon so I won't see her then either. At least we'll have movie night on Thursday. But Thursday seems like a long way off and I know I'm going to miss her terriably.

My mom's still in the hospital but she should be able to come home sometime this week. The doctors have been playing with her medication and maybe they finally have that right. From what she's told me today her gums aren't in too good of shape so she's not sure what will happen as far as her getting dentures (remember, they pulled her teeth). But it'll be good to know that she's back home and especially that she'll be there when I go home in a couple of weeks. I was afraid that I'd have to visit her in the hospital.

There are many things I've been wanting to post about but I've felt that I should just keep my mouth shut about them, considering what happened last time I talked about radio in here. I won't say much about it now but let me just say that anytime the competition attacks us, all that does is tell me what I'm doing my job. They wouldn't attack us unless they were scared.

Based on this week, we have them terrified.

Personally I think it's hilarious that they feel like they have to have sweepers and promos where the attack us and/or generally react to something we're doing. If you're number one (as they like to make very obvious) you don't acknowledge the stations beneath you. Either they all failed Radio 101 or we just have them so scared that they feel the need to make us look bad. That's ok, boys; keep it coming. Again, all that does is let me know that I'm doing my job.

As I've said in the past, some "friendly" trash talking is just part of the game and usually all in good fun. However, when it turns personal that's not such a good thing. Last weekend they made it personal by attacking me and our night guy. My end of it, well, I really didn't take a lot of offense, in fact I thought it was somewhat funny. However I could have come up with better material in the fifth grade... but I digress. The attack on our night guy, though, was racist and uncalled for. And on a hip-hop station? That's really not cool.

Karma's a bitch, guys. This will come back to bite you in the ass.

That's all I have today. As you can tell not a whole lot has been happening, considering I haven't posted here in quite a while. As for now, I'm going to the station. Consultant's in town so I have to burn my breaks from Friday onto a CD for an air check session. Always fun stuff!
